Instructions

Hardware requirements

  •  Two color glasses (3D glasses e.g.: red\cyan, magenta\green, red\green etc.)
  • iOS 5.0 or newer / Windows 8 or newer

Step by Step insturctions:

1. Download Lazy Eye Tetris for your device

2. Start Lazy Eye Tetris

3. Put up your two color glasses

4. Adjust the proper left color what compatible with your glasses

4.1  Navigate to color settings page (if there is a settings wizard in that game then you can ignore this general instruction and follow the instructions of the settings wizard)

4.2 On the settings screen you can see a „Left” and a „Right” label on a white backgrounnd and each above a color picker

4.3 To adjust the Left color you have to close your right eye first

4.4 While your right eye is closed you have to use the left color picker to select that color where you can’t see left label on the white background

4.5 As you touch and drag your finger on the left color picker the color of left label immediately follow the changes

4.6 Your are done if you can’t see the left label because it merged into the white background

5. Repeat the step 4. to your right eye

6. When you finished you can save the settings by click to the „Save” button

7. You can check the final settings with the following steps:

7.1 Close right eye, look at the left label you are right if you can’t see with your left eye

7.2 Close left eye, look at the right label you are right if you can’t see with your right eye

8. With the proper settings you are ready to start the game navigate back to the game scene

9. Start the game

10. The falling block should be invisible for the left eye but should be visible for your right eye

11. After a block reached the bottom of the game field it switch color and the landed block should be invisible for the right eye but should be visible for your left eye

12. To successfully build rows your brain and your eyes forced to work together and that way your stereo vision can improve

13. You should play the game 20-60 minutes each day. You can split up that into 2 or 3 20 minutes sessions if you feel this more comfortable. The most important is to be able to concentrate in the timeframe while you exercising so if you tired just take a rest and continue later or sometimes you can skip a day to give your brain enough time to adapt the new inputs. You can see significant improvements after 6 weeks of use

Important to know

– If you use a pale-colored 3D glasses then It need more precise settings to separate the two eye appropiate.
As I experienced that a more darker or high contrast 3D glasses easier to setup (maybe the red-green and magenta-green is the easiest).

– You can play with the left right colors as you wish.
e.g: if you have an amblyopic left eye then you adjust the “left” word to be invisible for your left eye and “right” to your right eye then you will see the landing blocks with your left eye after it is easy you can change up the two side to use you amblyopic eye to see the falling block what is a bit harder so you can adjust the two color as you wish according to your capibilities

– It is easier if you start with a smaller screen and when you comfortable with that screen you can step forward to a bigger screen

e.g.:

mobile :~4″

(iOS)

->

tablet :~10″

(Windows 8)

->

monitor: ~22″

(Windows 8)

->

TV ~46″

(I recommend the Lazy Eye Tetris 3D connected with a PC but you can use any version\device what you can easily connect and play)

  1. Hey BalazsB

Thank you for taking the time to make this app!

I’ve been using your app for about 3 months now. A month with the shadow effect and 2 without the shadow effect. I’ve seen improvements especially in the first month which I judge based on my score but its been very very gradual. However I’ve still not gained stereopsis.
At this point I’m not sure if my vision has improved or I’ve gotten better at “cheating”. Is there something I’m not doing right or is it just taking me very long to get better? Possibly accompany the app with other vision therapy exercises?

I’ve seen a lot of articles based on this concept, do you have any testimonials you can share for inspiration 🙂

    1. Yes the game can help a lot on lazy eye and amblyopia I got many positive feedbacks that indicate better eye alignment and e.g. 20/400 vision what changed to 20/20. There are a few who gave feedback that they did not improved, but in the feedbacks I get in general 95% positive feedback and people report improvements.

You have to be aware that with Vision Therapy as the game itself also a Vision Therapy like exercise can be improved that condition but it is a hard and long process to cure fully to get improvements is relatively fast weeks, months.
You also have to be aware that all people different so one react more one less there was report who told me that after just 3-4 usage in 2 weeks improved the eyes to close to perfect but of course it sounds extreme and great but can’t guarantee this for everybody so it is usually hard and long work months and years.
and of course also can be helpful to read vision therapy related articles. You can combine with other VT exercises too.

  2. Hi Balazs B

I’ve been using your app for about 3 months now for 45 min. Although I’ve seen improvement, it has been very gradual which I judge on my score, however I still don’t have binocular vision. For 1 month I used the shadow effect and for 2 without the shadow. Over the last month I saw very little improvement.

Is it something I’m doing wrong or does the process just take very long?
If you have any testimonials of people who have fully recovered? for inspiration purposes, it would be greatly appreciated! 🙂

      1. Hi Balazs b
Is there any way of making the words left and right in the app bigger for easier setup. Our doctors app had the words bigger than the one I downloaded.
        Andrew

      2. Please send me a mail (lazyeyegames@outlook.com) with a screenshot about the screen and the exact type of your device.

  3. Hey.. I have a lazy eye and use a lens with a power of +2.75 for partial correction of vision. Now, with respect to the 3D glasses you mentioned, should I use a powered glass or a plain 3D glass while playing the game?

  4. Which is the better tetris game to download on a apple iphone? Which glasses so I use red/green or red/blue?

  5. Hi,
My daughter is having trouble callabrating app due to her good eye being so strong. No matter how she collaborates she can still see the the dot with the eye shes not supposed to.
Is it ok to able be able to just see it or should it be invisible.

    1. Hi,

this sounds like a pale color 3D glasses problem, please make sure that you are using an decent 3D glasses

For more information please visit lazyeyegames.com

*I was not able to make each colors totally invisible for the my other eye can I play the game?*

If you have problems to setup the colors after you have read the instructions then you probably own a low contrast 3D glasses I would suggest one of these . A higher contrast glasses (more darker) more easier to setup the colors to be invisible, with a low contrast glasses you should choose a very bright color to accomplish that. This is why a high contrast or darker glasses fits better to the game. If you were able to setup the colors just you were not able to make completely invisible the blocks but you can see when you play with one eye or both eyes then you are good with the settings and you can play the game it will be beneficial just always pay attention what see and concentrate to use both eyes together.

      Kind regards, Balazs B.

      1. I have just started playing this game. It is not easy but I am sure with practice I will get better. I just want to thank you for coming up with this game. It gives us people with lazy eye hope.

  6. These instructions are not clear at all. I downloaded this game to my iphone. I have a lazy left eye but the words Left & Right are not on the color settings at all. There are falling blocks color and landed blocks color. Which color should each be? My glasses are red on the left lense and blue on the right. Should i adjust the settings so that i can only see out of the left lense? How does that mean my eyes are working together? I’m confused. A video of setting the colors properly would be an amazing addition to this!

  7. Hi

My right lazy eye is so poor that I use my left eye all the time. When I close my left eye and try to see using the lazy eye, I only see some light and blur objects in front of me. Does this game work for me?

    Regards<
    Harold

    1. Hi,

you can test it by try to play the game with only the weaker eye if you are able to do it then it can be okay but I also suggest to consult with an optometrist and get a proper persception glasses and exercise with the help of it.

      Kind regards,
      Balazs B.

      1. Hi Balazs,
I don’t think I can play it with only the weaker eye. Very blur even if I put the screen in front of my eye 😦

        Regards,
        Harold

    1. Hi Mon,
Do you have a very weak lazy eye too? How did you make it work? Would you mind sharing your experience? Would you mind dropping me an email: kentakki08(at)yahoo.co.jp)? I’m not sure there’s any hope for me since my lazy eye is so poor.

      Thanks & Regards,
      Harold

  8. Hi Harold

I do have one weak eye yes and playing the game has helped. I just close the stronger eye and force the weaker one to work. Initially it is hard and u may just see blurry images but it does inprove. I will drop u an email.

    1. Hi Mon and Harold,
If I understood correctly I am facing the same problem. When I play the game with both eyes my lazy eye (left) do not works, only my dominant eye (right). It feels I am playing with my lazy eye closed. I would much appreciate if you guys can give me any advise.
      Thank you, Gio

      1. Hi,

In the Blocks game you can switch between normal and slow mode in this way you can make easier the game and you have more time to concentrate.
Maybe you can also try to pause the game and blinking while you try to concentrate to use both eyes.
If you are able to see both sides simultaneously then it will improve with time and get easier to maintain it.

  9. Hello.

I have just downloaded the app,but I have a slight problem. I correctly adjust the colours before i play the game. But, when I start playing, I can’t see the red falling colour out of my weak eye. I can only see it if I close my good eye.

If i adjust the falling block colour any further, I can see the red blocks with my good eye. Hopefully I have explained this well enough to understand. Is there anything I can do to set the game/colours up correctly?

    2. Use your prescripted glasses until you can take them off and play the game. After a few days i was able to take off my prescriptions.

  10. When I play the tetris I am able to see both the falling blocks and the ground blocks just fine with each eye. My only problem is that when the falling block is coming down I noticed it is 1 unit to the left according to my amblyopic eye. I just wanted to ask if this was normal and would it hinder my results? Thank you

    1. Hi,

great question it should be some eye misalignment and to improve it you have to try to concentrate more to you eye muscles to position your eye better to place. Try to pause the game close your eyes and/or blink rapidly and try to see the blocks where they are without that shift. If you do it well you can unpause the game and try to keep it properly align. If you not succeed with it I suggest to exercise a bit with brock string to gain more eye positions awareness.

      1. Thank you for the response by the way,
I notice that as I get closer to my monitor screen the gap disappears. But the thing is, I am inches away from my screen. Should I play the game in this position and gradually move away?

      2. Yes, you can start the session that way but in the same session try to increase the distance. After a couple of sessions of the app and Brock string your starting position should be greater than now.

    2. Well I wasn’t able to see both with both eyes when I started but i can now. I did have the 1 off issue when I started, the more I played the less of that issue i had. Admittedly I haven’t played consistently but i open it every now and then for a workout. It’s like my gym habit where i have issues going everyday 😂🤦🏽‍♀️

      1. Well to be 100% honest, initially i used it for an hour a day for 1 month then stopped because an hour is a lot of time. The first 2 days i had to wear my prescription glasses and the 3d ones together but after that I could go without my prescription glasses when playing the game. I noticed more clarity in everyday stuff like driving or reading. The physical appearance of my lazy eye didn’t change though.

  11. I just ordered the Brock string off of amazon. I am going to try and continue the game an hour a day, and see if my brain just adapts. I think what may be causing it is the fact that I haven’t seen 3D vision all my life. And now that I finally am, my brain is freaking out lol. Its like what Susan Barry said in her ted talk, when she first started seeing in 3d there was a noticeable gap in between objects. Anyway thanks for taking the time out of your day for responding. I will keep training hard to get 20/20 vision!

      1. My vision has been getting better over time. The only problem is consistency, it is really hard to play an hour a day when there is not much time in my day to day life. But recently I have been getting better at managing my time and prioritizing my vision first. If you put in the work your vision will improve greatly just takes time.

  12. Hello,
I am using Red-Blue 3-D Anaglyph glasses. However, I am unable to do proper setting after following step by step procedure. I still can see both blocks, falling and landing, with my right. Where I am doing in correct? I have looked for Red-Green, but did not find anywhere in Pakistan.
Alternatively, please suggest other types lazy eye tetris games, even paid one, where I could easily get the settings.

    Please help.

  13. Hi, please advise me with this, which glasses are the correct one? The green on right eye and red on the left or it’s work on other side? They got two different kinds of glasses which one is correct for this kind of games?

  14. Hello, does this system work on a Windows 10 Firefox platform? I am interested in trying it on my computer but want to make sure it is compatible. Thank you.

  15. My daughter has a lady eye she has developed double vision after playing this game for 7 several months, her eyesight improved she now has to wear a prism in her glasses. Is there any advice you can give me should she continue this game it seems the brain won’t suppress the lazy eye and the won’t work together resulting in double vision.

    1. Hi Anthony,

double vision (diplopia) can occur for people who have strabismus (misaligned) eyes. That condition should be treated separately most of the time; it either requires prism glasses if possible or eye muscle surgery. These applications may improve the condition of amblyopia so it isn’t a treatment for strabismus.
Please consult with your optometrist, vision therapist and eye specialist as I am not giving medical advice. These are only personal suggestions and I always recommend to be under medical supervision while trying to stimulate vision.

      Regards,
      Balazs

      1. You are welcome. It’s important that strabismus should be corrected at the first place then amblyopia because uncorrected strabismus is what causing diplopia because the images comes from different angles and if the misalignment is greater than what the brain can fuse it can lead to diplopia. See at
        http://lazyeyegames.com/
in the FAQ and\or in the privacy policy of all the games at AppStore, Google Play.

      2. Thank you , it turns out after speaking to a consultant my daughter as an unspecified amblyopia, and a divergent squint which they for got to mention, so yes now I know she has strabismus, that explains double vision, tho her eyesight did improve so if I get the surgery for strabismus I should be able to return to this game?

      3. Be sure to ask the consultant about the recommended required recovery time between surgery and eye exercises (these apps qualify as Vision Therapy exercises) but other than that and the information in FAQ it’s fine, yes.
